Running in the race is our Christianity journey. This is a Christian Walk. Not just life as most but we are running toward a goal of the upward call of God. Just life, as most people, they do not have a definite purpose why they exist on this earth. They are just trying to live well and that’s it. But we are Christians, we are running on the purpose of the upward call.

What is the heavenly calling to us? Romans 8: 28-29 “And we know that God causes everything to work together [a] for the good of Reviews those who love God and are called According to his purpose for them. For God Knew his people in advance, and he chose Them to Become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn [b] among many brothers and sisters”.

We are called to be conformed to the image of His Son. We are called to be like Christ.
Becoming like Christ in what way? certainly not to be like Christ in his divinity but as Christ in love, peace and joy. Christ lived not for Himself but for others, for all of us.
How much love we have for others? How much we care?
How much peace do we have? are you a peacemaker to others?
How much joy that we have and we share?
This call is not an option for us, but this is a call that is is obliged for every believer.

Then, how do we run in this race? Paul explains in Hebrews 12:1  “let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up.
What makes you slow? strip it off. This means you need to simplify your life. Just like a smartphone, after using for some times, the smartphone will be slow because a lot of junk stored. Then you need to clean up the junk. Likewise in our life.
What needs to be cleaned up? Rick Warren gave us good insight about this:

  • Clean up your mind.  Our mind is just like a woman handbag. After some time used and then checked, you will find a lot of trash in it like a used tissue, candy wrappers, receipts, unused papers, shopping list weeks ago, etc. Please stop some times and clean up your handbag.
  • Clean up your heart, hatred many years ago that you keep in your heart will ruin your life and your relationship with God. You must learn to forgive and move on.
  • Clean up your relationship. 1 Corinthians 15:33 (WE) “Do not be fooled. `If good people keep company with bad people, the good people will become bad too.” Be friend with everyone’s  just okay, but spent a lot of your valuable time with just anyone, do not!
  • Clean up your schedule. You might have spent too much of your time for things that are not a priority so that you do not have enough time for family and for your children. No more time to worship and read bible. You need to re-set your priority.

Hebrews 12:2 “We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith”.
Will be a lot of things in this world that try to divert your attention so that you deviate from the race. Keep your eyes on Jesus. Many of the challenges and obstacles that will confront but Jesus will give us strength, He will lead our faith and perfects it.
