Jehovah Rapha – God The Healer

Jehovah Rapha God the Healer

INTRODUCTION

Since men fell into sin, curse and disease have befallen them until now. (Genesis chapter 3 writes about how men fell into sin and about the curses that fell upon them). In the beginning God said that everything He had made was really good and perfect. However, after the first sin, the ground was also cursed, and viruses and bacteria started to take place.

Many people think that sickness comes from God. We need to understand that curse and disease were at first caused by the fall of man. Then Satan used the curses that were caused by sin, to make people suffer from diseases that can result in death. So it is not God’s will that we are sick. It is sin that opens the door for Satan to bring sickness and weakness into our body.

After knowing where diseases come from, our next question is: Does God want to heal people from their sickness? The answer is: He is God the Healer – Jehovah Rapha (Exodus 15:26). The meaning of “Rapha” is to heal, to make perfect, to restore, to make normal.

However, there are Christians who give up on their sickness and weakness; they misunderstand, so that they live in hopelessness. Some even think that their sickness is God’s will and when they suffer, it is to glorify God.
It is true that not all diseases are caused by our sins; it can also be the result of our unhealthy lifestyle.
Father God has sent His Son, Jesus Christ to die for our sins, and by His stripes, we are healed.
Let us read this verse:
Numbers 21:5-9.
The Israelites rebelled. Verse 5: “Why have you brought us out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no bread, neither is there any water, and we loathe this light (contemptible, unsubstantial) manna.”

As a result, God sent serpents among the people and they bit them, so many of the Israelites died. When they repented, God said in verse 8: “Make a fiery serpent [of bronze] and set it on a pole; and everyone who is bitten, when he looks at it, shall live.”

In verse 9: “If a serpent had bitten any man, when he looked to the serpent of bronze, he lived.”
Now let us turn to the New Testament:
John 3:14: And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert [on a pole], so must [so it is necessary that] the Son of Man be lifted up [on the cross].
It is saying about Jesus Christ who was lifted up on the cross – just like the bronze serpent on the pole – who will also heal our diseases.
Some verses about the promises of healing through Jesus Christ for us believers, written in the Bible: (Let us take turns reading it)
Isaiah 53: 4-5, Matthew 4:23, Matthew 8:16, Matthew 14:14, Luke 6:19, Luke 4:40

SHARING

His power never changed, in the past, now and forever. He is God our Healer. How can we experience the miracle of healing from Jesus Christ?

1. Have faith

To have faith is to believe that it is God’s will for everyone to be healed. When there is revelation about God’s will based on God’s word, the spiritual atmosphere will be prepared so that faith will be imparted to the sick person, and he will believe and be healed.
A servant of God, TL Osborn said “Wherever healing is taught as God’s provision for everyone, faith will be imparted and people will be healed. This method never fails.”
From a few verses that we read before, those who were healed are those who believed that Jesus could heal. They tried every way to come to Jesus and be healed.

2. Cast all Bitterness on Jesus (Exodus 15:23)

Marah was a bitter water spring. The water was so bitter that the Israelites could not drink it. In this life, we experience a lot of life problems and they might make us bitter. Bitterness can be the source of diseases. One example, cancer can be caused by a bitter heart.
When Moses cried out to the Lord, He told Moses to cast a piece of wood into the water, then the water turned sweet and drinkable. God did not change the spring, He only changed the taste. God does not remove the problems or the diseases, but instead, by the cross, all the bitter problems are turned sweet.
The wood represents Jesus’s cross. When we are willing to cast all our bitterness unto Jesus, He will change our hearts to be sweet and all diseases will be healed (1 Peter 2:24).

3. God’s Word the Truth (John 8:32)

Then your light shall break forth like the morning, your healing shall spring forth speedily, and your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard. – Isaiah 58:8
When we pray and fast, and humble ourselves before Him, we are trying to know Him better through His truth. Speak out the Word of God, the truth, and the truth will make us free.
Although some people say that Christ only healed 2000 years ago, we must believe that His power will never change, in the past, now, and forevermore. He is still God the Healer, in the past, now and forevermore. When we know this truth, this truth will make us free from all our diseases.

CLOSING

Jesus has broken the curse of sins, diseases, and death that took place since the fall of Adam and Eve to sin in Eden. God sent Jesus to pay the price by taking our sins and diseases into His own body, so that we are set free. By His stripes we are healed. Jesus can heal all diseases, in our body, soul or even in our economy. This is God’s will, God’s desire, mercy and grace that we are free from any diseases and healed. To God be the glory. Amen.
